From its beginnings as a supplier of desktop project management software in the mid-80’s, Microsoft has evolved its product offerings. Microsoft Project Professional 2010 coupled with Microsoft Project Server 2010 implements a complete, fully featured EPM solution for executives, project managers, resource managers, functional managers and team members. With it, C-level managers can conduct organizational strategic planning with portfolio analysis and decision making using the fully integrated Protfolio management capability of Project Server 2010. Project managers can manage their projects using the familiar Microsoft Project desktop application, or manage their project from anywhere with an Internet connection using the Project Web Application. With a SharePoint Server foundation, Project Server 2010 provides a rich, web-based collaborative enviornment which allows users to share ideas and contribute to project deliverables.
